What happens when you add one hero plus x amount of dramatic irony? You get a tragic vision. This is the formula for Othello. Othello may not have known true intentions and events but still chose to act accordingly propelling the play further into tragic vision.
The main character is the most powerful and influential character so it would be thought that they would have everything; success, love, power, and everything they desired. Although this is an easy misconseption to make it is not true. The most powerful and influential person is the most vulnerable. Any lapse of knowledge or discernament can effect every character and the play as a whole. Iago is the mastermind behind the destruction and downfall but it was Othello's choice to overlook Iago for the job position and instead choose Cassio. In Othello's decision he knocked over the first chip into a never ending spiral of falling dominos until the last domino fell or should I say character.
Every character had their own contribution to the downfall but each action made was evoked by the starter chip, Othello. He over looked Iago so he went after Cassio. Othello married Desdemona which angered Rodrigo. Rodrigo was angered so much that he went after Cassio. Cassio seeked Desdemona's help so she acted. Desdemona's actions upset Othello. This cycle kept going until everyone became nothing but a tragedy. The Domino effect can seem like a harmless chain of actions to reaction or an endless tragic vision. The definition simply depends on the tragic hero, starting domino.

You illustrate how, but not why these characters react in such a way. Needed more individual character explanation: 77
